Drugs, forced starving, 8-hour trainings!!?? Is this the REAL Biggest Loser Show? Well it seems some of the contestants are spilling the beans and telling the real behind-the-scene horrors that really happened on one of America’s most viewed TV programs.

The Biggest Loser was never a show I felt compelled to watch more than once. Obese at one time myself, and losing over 100 pounds naturally through a mind, body, spirit approach, I knew the show didn’t promote healthy weight loss and was ridged for sensationalism only.

I mean, why else would you train people until they vomit on national TV, have them doing impossible and dangerous workouts causing embarrassment and humiliation just to get high TV ratings?

In addition, they never focused on real fat loss, just weight loss like many nutritionist, physicians, weight loss gurus, and others toting a book or program for losing weight within the multibillion dollar industry.

That’s when I realized that what I had learned in my career as a medical weight loss specialist and coach for physicians and corporations in North America is what real weight loss is about. It consists of these three things:

  1. Losing fat weight only and sparing your valuable lean body mass, which includes your bone, muscle, and valuable organ tissue.
  2. Following an individually designed nutrition plan that is based on your body composition that also takes in consideration your body type, shape, and metabolism instead of a scripted ‘cookie-cutter’ diet plan.
  3. Being coached from a professional that knows the scientific mind, body, spirit modalities and strategies that will transform your mind and change your habits for good.

When the mind is changed along with the correct nutrition and exercise designed for you as an individual, transformation is possible and lasting.

It is said that all the Biggest Loser contestants have gained the weight back. When weight loss isn’t tied to a bigger purpose, why should anyone keep it off? In addition, the contestants are saying that the process used by the trainers and producers of the show, destroyed their metabolism. It’s not hard to do when a person is not getting proper nutrition and only focusing on fast weight loss.

I’ve been able to get people to lose fat fairly quickly, however, if a person doesn’t do the mental work, they will only gain it back. And their health is my first priority. Here are my average fat loss results:

When working on losing fat (weight loss), many people respect a more natural approach instead of drugs that have dangerous side effects. But what are good to take and do they work?

One of the 5 most powerful weight loss ‘helps” and one that is very popular for the properties that have been shown to work is, Garcinia Cambogia.

Garcinia Cambogia is a tropical fruit also known as the Malabar tamarind. Medical studies have shown that this powerful nutraceutical blocks your body’s ability to make fat and helps to reduce ‘stress’ eating, it has been shown it helps to normalize blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

How it works is due to the active ingredient in the fruit’s rind, called hydroxycitric acid, or HCA and has shown to cut appetite and blocks an enzyme called citrate lyase, which your body uses to make fat. It also raises levels of the brain chemical called serotonin, which may help you feel less hungry.

Serotonin is the chemical that is released when you eat out of stress or in the evening and nighttime hours. When taken, there is no need to eat when you are not hungry.

Garcinia Cambogia is not a magic pill meaning it doesn’t work if you are not on a healthy customized diet plan and incorporating other healthy habits such as exercise and limiting processed foods loaded with chemicals, preservatives, and food additives. It is only a powerful tool.

Is it Safe for Type 2 Diabetics and People with High Cholesterol?

Yes! Garcinia Cambogia may make it easier for your body to use glucose, the sugar your cells need for energy. In studies were mice received Garcinia Cambogia it was shown that it lowered insulin levels more than the mice that didn’t.

That’s another reason, besides weight loss, that people with diabetes or people who lose weight slowly are interested in it. If you are diabetic, the herb will lower your glucose levels so, close monitoring of your glucose levels so that is doesn’t fall to dangerous levels is crucial do not get dangerously slow.

Some research has found that Garcinia Cambogia can also improve cholesterol levels, lowers triglycerides and LDL (the ‘bad” cholesterol levels and raising the HDL (the good cholesterol).

Is It Safe to Take?

The possible side effects are:

  • Dizzyness
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Upset stomach or diarrhea

Garcinia cambogia may interact badly with:

  • Asthma and allergies and medicines such as Accolate and Singulair
  • Diabetes medicines, including insulin
  • Iron, or anemia
  • Pain medications
  • Prescriptions for psychiatric conditions
  • Statins, drugs that lower cholesterol
  • Warfarin, or other blood thinners
  • Stains, drugs that lower cholesterol
  • Warfarin, a blood thinner

You definitely don’t want to use it when you’re pregnant or nursing, or if you have kidney or liver problems.

  • decreases absorption of glucose from the ileum.
  • lowers insulin levels, serum glucose, triglycerides, food intake, body weight, CRP and interleukin 6 and the development of insulin resistance in obese, male Zucker rats (experimental model for human obesity

  • increases serotonin levels in human subjects by 44%
  • partially inhibits hepatic conversion of glucose to free fatty acids (lipogenesis)
